Five years of stats deserves a look back to remember some
outstanding performances. Some of the above records, such as Bonds outstanding
2005 year could have been predicted so I will point out some more unexpected
ones. Only 3 primary category records still hold from 2003: Jacque Jones 46 2B
and Jorge Sosa’s 81 BB. Johan Santana holds 3 team records but 2 of them come
from his 2 years in the bullpen: 17 saves and 83 game appearances in 2003 and
2004. Jose Contreras was a great set-up man in 2004 sporting the Burgess ERA
record for a reliever at 2.15 (60 IP). The 2004 Burgesses were awful at 56-106.
Besides Cornejo’s pathetic record of 4-22, the other horrific pitching
performance of note belonged to Elmer Dessens who as a rotation fixture with 30
starts sported a 7.42 ERA.
Bonds 2005 BA of .408 is still a record for Brassworld but his 70 HR and 168 rbi were surpassed last year by GCG’s David Ortiz with 80 and 179 respectively. Bonds remains BW’s only .400 hitter also posting a .401 average with Toontown in 2003.
